At The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, Waverly
In each session, we will explore a fundamental aspect of visual art, and apply it through guided creative expression, using a different medium each week. Supplies will be provided, and light refreshments served. A six week series.
WEEK 1
The Art of Seeing:
Using pencil (and eraser!) we will practice the importance of how an artist sees the world, and presents it in a balanced composition.
WEEK 2
Lights & Darks:
Using charcoal, we will recognize how shadows and highlights bring forms to life.
WEEK 3
World of Color:
Using colored pencils, we will navigate the fundamentals and possibilities of color.
WEEK 4
Pleasing Portraits:
Using watercolor, we will discover the basics of painting faces with ease.
WEEK 5
Lay of the Land:
Using acrylic paints, we will look at the qualities of landscapes, and how to translate them artistically.
WEEK 6
Focus on Figures
Using mixed media, and the lessons learned through each session, we will consider the human figure and its characteristics.
