Director of Development
Part-Time/ Exempt
30-35 hours per week
Reports To: Executive Director
The Director of Development at the Waverly Community House is a key leadership role
responsible for driving the organization’s fundraising, donor relations, and strategic development efforts. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will work collaboratively with senior staff to secure the financial resources necessary to support WCH’s mission, growth, and sustainability. This individual will oversee all aspects of the organization’s fundraising programs, including major gifts, annual giving, and corporate sponsorships.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with WCH’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners.
- Oversee the annual fundraising calendar, ensuring all efforts are executed effectively and with clear metrics for success.
2. Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key donors, foundations, and sponsors.
- Create and implement personalized donor stewardship plans to ensure donors feel valued and appreciated.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify high-level donors and engage in direct solicitation when appropriate.
3. Community Outreach & Partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with community leaders, businesses, and organizations to increase visibility and support for WCH’s mission.
- Represent WCH at community events and networking opportunities to raise awareness of the organization’s work and impact.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or related fields.
- Proven track record of successfully raising funds through major gifts, events, and partnerships.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and cultivate relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, think strategically, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of the local community and an established network of relationships is a plus.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience working in a community-based organization.
- Expertise with donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel.
